Commited to Continuous Improvement.
Ashford University has a history of defining and assessing the outcomes and achievement of its students relative to general education. As the University’s understanding of the outcomes has evolved through ongoing assessment, faculty have come to appreciate the need for re-formulating the outcome statements connected with general education. Accordingly, the University is in the process of re-specifying the outcomes of its general education program and mapping appropriate assessments that will continue to inform and enable better understanding of student learning. The assessment program will continue to gather information that will be used to determine how well our students are meeting defined learning outcomes. Areas of improvement to focus on will be essential life skills that the general education curriculum promotes. The competency areas include applied ethics, information technology, critical thinking, mathematics, and written and oral communication.
Current assessments have already assisted in the overall general education assessment approach.
